Bed & Breakfast by Sandford's National Nature Reserve
Our Bed & Breakfast's cottage garden with its own woodland, itself a Site of Special Scientific Interest, has direct access onto Sandford Heath one of the collection of sites that together makes up Dorset Heaths National Nature Reserve.
Dorset Heaths NNR
This picturesque corner of Dorset is famous for its spectacular mosaic of open heathland and bogs which support some of Englandís rarest wildlife.  Itís perfect for a gentle stroll or a longer hike across a landscape that bursts into colour during the summer, and children love the chance of spotting a carnivorous plant or catching a glimpse of a rare sand lizard or a roaming deer family.  This is one of the few remaining strongholds of the charismatic Dartford Warbler, while all six species of British reptile have been seen at the reserve.  Bug hunters will also have plenty to keep them occupied thanks to the reserveís fantastic range of grasshoppers, butterflies and dragon flies.  There are numerous walks and trails cross the reserve.
